Join us for a developmental reading of Only One Question, a new play by local Tampa Bay playwright Jan Adkins. At Gloria's, a small bar tucked away in 1970s Florida, GEORGETTE, IRENE, SHAY, and CRYSTAL have built something the outside world doesn't have a name for yet: a family. It's Christmas Eve, the jukebox is playing, and for one night the bar is exactly what it's supposed to be — safe. But safety is never guaranteed for women like them. As state investigators circle, looking for anyone they can entrap, expose, and destroy, the women of Gloria's have to decide what they're willing to risk to protect each other — and each other's right to a Saturday night, a slow dance, a place to belong. Spanning decades, Only One Question is a story about the family you choose, the cost of being seen, and the ones who kept dancing anyway — and you'll be among the first to hear it.
